I don’t feel that my family is photogenic enough for a portrait session, will my photos look good?
I get this question a lot and it’s natural for people to feel this way.
Take a look at my portrait portfolio: everyone in those photos looks confident, comfortable and is having a good time.
The reason that I tell all my customers not to worry about what looks good, is it will happen naturally.
When you book your session, I will talk to you about a location and clothing choice. We will work out a location that makes you feel comfortable and has meaning to you. The location will then guide the style / type of clothes to help you look your best.
On the day of your portrait session, I’ll put you and your family in nice flattering light and help you get natural looking photos by giving you suggestions on how to act in front of the camera.
Notice I didn’t say pose! Have a look at my portfolio, all the photos look natural and not posed.
What style of portrait photography you do?
My style of portrait photography is candid portraits. I like being as unobtrusive as possible, giving my clients space to act naturally and be themselves. It’s important to pick a location that you are comfortable in order to make you feel at ease.
What is included in a portrait session?
All portrait sessions include:
- A phone consultation to talk about product selection, portrait location and clothing advice.
- Portrait sessions are 90 minutes or 2 hours when purchased in a collection.
- The cost includes travel to a location within the Canberra region and Queanbeyan.
- Editing of your photos in a natural way, which includes a mixture of colour and black & white photos.
- A password protected gallery to choose your photos for printing an album or sharing when you purchase the digital files.
What areas of Canberra do you cover?
Portrait session prices include coverage for the Canberra Region and Queanbeyan. I also will travel outside of Canberra to Bungendore, Goulburn and the South Coast of NSW for portrait sessions, for an additional fee.
We have a family member that is elderly or has special needs. Can you accommodate them?
Absolutely! All portrait sessions are photographed in a location of your choice. This means if you wish to have your session at home or a location that is special to you, I’m happy to travel to you. I’ve had a lot of experience with elderly family members and children with special needs over the years.
What if we go over our allocated time?
If we go over time, don’t stress! I’m not going to charge extra!
The reason I list times for my portrait sessions and packages is more as a guide to let you know I will be taking photos for at least that amount of time. This is helpful for families with young children to be able to plan their day. Also, there are people who are less mobile or have special needs that will naturally take a little bit longer, so it’s understandable we might go over.
Do you offer printed products?
I grew up with photos albums a kids, so naturally I offer Photo Albums for you to enjoy your new photos.
I believe that photos look better printed. Once you take a look at my portrait books and albums, which are printed on beautiful fine art paper, you will see why I like them so much. Plus it’s an affordable way to store and display many photos, and an album doesn’t take up alot of space.
What is Fine Art Paper and why do you use that paper?
Fine Art Paper is made of cotton rag and has a long archival quality lasting up to 75 – 100 years. Another reason I use this type of paper is how the colours are reproduced when you print on that type of paper. Black & White photos are crisp and the blacks are deep. Colour photos are vivid and bright.
When I buy an album can I choose my photos?
You are more than welcome to choose the photos that go into your album. A 30 page album, depending on how we design it and the type of portrait session you choose, will have about 40 – 50 photos.
Do you offer the digital files?
It’s understandable that some families would like the digital files. I offer the high resolution digital files for purchase from every session on USB.
To give you the most flexibility, I included on your USB the full high resolution digital files ready for printing. You also get a web ready version of your files to make sharing your photos easier.
How long after a session will I see my photos?
Your Portrait Photos will be ready within a week of your portrait session, most of the time it’s sooner. A link will be emailed to you with a link to a password protected online gallery for you to proof.
– If you purchased the Digital Files, a USB will be dropped off to you a couple of days later.
– If you purchased an Album, you will need to select your photos. Once you have selected your photos and approved the album design, your album will be delivered in approximately ten days.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, I do offer gift vouchers. You can gift a portrait session or gift a dollar amount. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
