Unique, emotional, laughter, inclusive, warm and laid back. That was just the ceremony of Frances & Owen outdoor Canberra wedding.
Their wedding was over the October long weekend. At the foot of Mount Ainslie nature reserve. In a clearing of bush land that accommodated their closest friends and family.
Three ukuleles played as Frances & Owen approached together to walk down the isle.
Friends created an isle from fallen tree branches. That lead the couple past a small group of chairs at the back, and picnic blankets at the front. At the front a tree line with bunting with messages for the couple.
Their ceremony was officiated by Reverend Dr Erica Mathieson , and readings from family and the friend who first introduced them.
A choir lead by Owen’s mother sung beautifully, while Frances and Owen singed their marriage certificate.
After the ceremony Frances & Owen joined by guests took the short walk to the reception. The walk took them through a nearby reserve lined with native trees.
Rather than bring a gift. Guests were asked to bring a plate to share at the reception. The result was a feast fit for a king. Displayed on a table that too up most of the hall.
The cake cutting was special to see. Guests who had a special celebration or date coming up. Helped with cutting of the cake. How cool is that!
I love listening to speeches at weddings. You learn so much about the couple. Frances & Owen are such giving people.
Both side of the families gave excellent speeches. And a little surprise from Owens parents.
Frances is of South African background and to honer that. Owens parents, paid the fair price of bride with 24 cows which was hilarious to watch.
And to think that they only got engaged 6 weeks before their wedding day. Such a beautiful outdoor wedding in the Canberra bush that included their guests with every aspect of their special day. Well done!
