Karen and Rogers Royal Randwick wedding was an all day affair with the coverage starting at their respective homes and ending well into the night in the ballroom at the Australian turf club in Randwick.
When the stretch Hummer arrived to pick up Karen from the house it was accompanied by two motorcycle escorts. Reminiscent of the 1970s TV show CHiPs. In fact without the motorcycle escorts, I don’t think the Hummer would have been able to maneuver the tight Eastern Suburbs back streets to get Karen on time to the wedding.
It was a day full of tradition, starting with Badeken It’s where the groom veils the bride in a Jewish wedding. Allowing the groom to make sure that it is his bride that he’s about to marry.
Jewish ceremony: Fig tree lawn Royal Randwick
The ceremony took place underneath Chuppah at the large fig tree on the lawn at the Australian turf club in Randwick.
Rabbi Moss officiated the ceremony and spoke beautifully, explaining all the traditions along the way.
Following the ceremony Karen and Roger signed the official papers and had some time to themselves before they continued on with some family photos on the ground of the Australian jockey club.
Centennial park lily pond bridal party photos
While their guests enjoy drinks and canapes. We took the opportunity to go to Centennial Park and take some photos of bridal party.
It wasn’t long after we got there that the heaven’s opened up and started to rain. It’s good luck to rain on a wedding day 🙂
We kept the photos simple and quick. Centennial park has wonderful tree cover by the lilly pond, meaning we could take our large group photo and individual photos of the bridal party underneath the trees for shelter.
We still needed to get one more photos of the bride and groom that would be used as a large canvas for their home. For this next set of photos. We utilise the lily pond bridge to capturing natural un-posed photos of Karen and Roger as they 5 minutes to reflect on the day.
Ballroom hall Australian turf club reception
Wow what can I say about the reception? Other than it definitely did not a dull moment that’s for sure. When we made it back to the ballroom Hall. The guess were just trickling through the doors, making their way to their seats. When the bride and groom were introduced and things got really exciting!
The dancing was so energetic and fun to watch. With the bride and groom separated by a wall, it certainly made photographing the dancing interesting.
The women took part in gladdening of the bride, this included a jump rope and lots of dancing,.
While the men dancing also full of energy with a lot of spinning and even the father of the bride balancing a glass of water on his head at one point!
To be honest I didn’t think they would have any energy left for the horah, and how they were going to lift the bride and groom! They looked out of breath but they managed to lift them both and it was awesome.
Karen, an excellent singer entertained her wedding guests accompanied by a choir group from Bondi sings
The speeches followed the and boy did they have everything. Tears, laughs, grilling of the groom and some of the best dad jokes you’ll ever hear.
The night was rounded off with more dancing.
