Jenny and Louie are getting married in 2014 and had organised an engagement session in an old part of Sydney called The Rocks, which is located near Circular Quay, Sydney and is easy to get to by public transport.
The area was established in 1788 and the original buildings were made from local sandstone from which the area got its name.
If you haven’t explored The Rocks, you definitely should spend a Sunday afternoon exploring the area. You will be surprised how much there is to see, considering how small the area actually is
The Rocks markets run on the weekends and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs to relax in after doing some shopping. Everywhere you look, you’re reminded of how the area used to be with the beautiful sandstone buildings.
Before I start any of my sessions, I always make it a point to try to get to know my couples, find out a bit about them and most importantly, try to make them relax. For this session, we walked and talked for a bit before we found a little secluded area that used to be an old sandstone house, which we used for some quick portraits to start us off.
Jenny pulled out a bow tie for Louie to put on. It worked well with his outfit, which goes to show you should always listen to your partner, they know what looks good on you
We spent a couple of hours wondering the back streets of The Rocks using as much of old Sydney we could find for our portraits.
When I first met Louie, he came across as very reserved. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Every now and then during the engagement session, he would bust out in song and dance while I was trying to pose them. It was excellent! I absolutely loved watching them both have fun with each other, this is exactly what an engagement session is about. It was like watching Glee! Well, at least that’s what I hear since I’ve never seen the show, I promise!
After Louie was done serenading Jenny, we wound down the session, by working our way to Observatory Hill, where we took advantage of the grass area and used the skyline as a backdrop to finish off the afternoon. It was an awesome afternoon topped off with spontaneous song and dance.
