Simple, elegant and convenient is what comes to mind when I think about Amy & Andrew’s wedding at Brays Bay Reserve in Sydney. Such a nice location for an outdoor wedding, right by the water and only meters to their wedding reception venue, Otto Ristorante. The guests had it easy – park once and walk meters to both the ceremony and reception. This was my first outdoor Catholic Wedding. From what I understand, they had to get permission from the Catholic Church to have their wedding ceremony outside.
Amy & Andrew choose well to keep the ceremony and reception near each other. They could move quickly between the ceremony, wedding portraits and reception by simply walking, not worrying about transport and getting back to their guests to continue the celebrations without any fuss or wasting time in a limo. Smart move guys!
The wedding portraits were taken up a short flight of stairs from the ceremony and reception venue. In an area that resembled a mini rain forest.
By having the reception located near the ceremony, we were able to include guests in more of the photos. I do like it when my bride & grooms include their guests in their portraits. It’s nice to have a document of who was at your wedding. After all, a wedding is about you, your family and your friends. It’s also a nice jester to get extra photos of the guests who have made the trip from out of town for the occasion.
Amy & Andrew took the approach of her side and his side for photos with their guests. Think of it as two big family and extended family group photos, instead of the standard table photos some bride and grooms do. This helped to cut down the whole process to 5 minutes of everyone’s time, and everyone could go back to the party. Big thanks to the mother of the bride, who wrangled every one like a seasoned pro.

Bride and groom portraits were taken shortly after the ceremony in a nearby secluded garden, which was like a mini rain forest.
